    Home, Sweet, Home

Beverly Stowe McClure has written a charming children’s book about an armadillo who wants to find a home just for himself. His present home is too crowded with siblings and he thinks he will be happier in a home of his own. “Frankie Armadillo pushed Monty’s claw off his nose. He swatted Phil’s tail out of his eyes. He coughed Bill’s foot from his mouth.” Frankie’s adventures take him to several places and into adventures as he searches for the right place to live. He finds that searching for a home and providing his own food is not as grand in reality as it was in his thoughts. This book, written for 4-8 year olds, is one you will have to share with your children. They will want to read and re-read it. The illustrations by Alexander Morris depict Frankie’s worries perfectly as he searched for his home. Younger non-readers will love to pour over the pictures pointing out the funny and serious aspects of Frankie’s search. Beverly Stowe McClure has written several teen novels as well as an adult novel that delves into the realm of ghost stories. She lives in the country with her husband, Jack and they watch armadillos, skunks and other wild creatures. She is a member of the Society of Children’s Book Authors and Illustrators. Alexander Morris graduated from the Illinois Institute of Art – Schaumburg. He always knew he wanted to be an artist and spent some time drawing monsters and other malformed creatures. He soon discovered the satisfaction of drawing cartoon characters when in college. He has illustrated several books for Guardian Angel Publishing.

    What Makes a Perfect Home?

Frankie wishes he had a perfect home. What exactly is a perfect home? 'One that doesn't have someone's claw on his nose, or their tail in his eyes or their foot in his mouth' he grumbles. Face it, with three brothers his mama and him, Frankie's home is just too crowded.

The young armadillo makes up his mind that enough is enough and strikes out to find a perfect place to call his very own. He travels across the countryside exploring nooks and crannies everywhere: the muddy area beside the creek, a dark hole under a farmhouse, the corner of an old abandoned barn, the hollow log and even a tunnel secluded under the roots of an old tree that seems absolutely perfect until he discovers one small problem. it is already occupied.by someone really scary. On his adventure Frankie meets many of his neighbors, and some of them are not so friendly. He is sleepy and hungry.and very lonely.

Join Frankie on his quest and help him discover the most important thing he needs to make his new home positively perfect.

Ms. McClure is a talented storyteller and this well crafted tale will not disappoint. The illustrations by Alex Morris are a perfect compliment to this delightful story that children will enjoy over and over again.

A Delight from Start to Finish!

Frankie's Perfect Home is a charming adventure from start to finish! Children will relate to Frankie's frustration with his crowded burrows, especially with all those annoying brothers. Who can sleep with some one's tail in your eyes or a foot in your mouth? His adventures as he wanders the Texas landscape are a perfect combination of excitement, close calls, and a growing realization of what truly makes a house (or burrow) a real home. Besides the tightly crafted writing, a hallmark of all of McClure's work, the illustrations by Alexander Morris are fresh and exuberant as a spring morning on the prairie. Bravo to Beverly Stowe McClure on her first, and hopefully, not last picture book!
