Freidel examines the personal and public life of the 32nd president of the United States, giving particular emphasis to his New Deal programs.
Publishers Weekly - Publisher's Weekly
Freidel portrays FDR as a decisive visionary who rescued the nation's economy and defended democracy on a worldwide basis, disputing opponents who perceive him as shallow, incompetent and dictatorial. ``This is as fine a one-volume biography of the 32nd president as we are likely to get,'' said PW. This was a thorough examination of FDR. It gave me a better understanding of time when FDR was president and the decisions that he made. He was the right man to be president during the Depression and World War II
