School Library Journal
Gr 2–3—Frannie, known this week as Frankly, is a girl on a mission. After she gets over the initial relief of being allowed to go with her class to the local radio station—the last field trip involved some unauthorized touching of papers that led to soggy results—she decides that it is time to get a job. She fashions her own business cards and résumé, which she plans on leaving at the station during the trip. But Frankly can't help being her curious and do-gooder self, and things do not go as planned. Instead of finding a job, she finds a whole lot of on-air trouble. This beginning chapter book will find readers among fans of Ramona and Clementine, but Frannie is a personality all her own. Illustrations and changing fonts pepper the pages and add to the reading experience. A perfect addition to the growing collection of feisty girls in early-chapter-book series.—Stacy Dillon, LREI, New York City

My 8 year old is somewhat of a reluctant reader and is hesitant to choose books on her reading level telling me they are "boring" or "too many words". When we came upon this book one day she started to tell me no but then changed her mind. Boy are we glad she did! They are great for boys or girls. These are laugh out loud funny books along the lines of Beezus and Romona. The predicaments that Franny and her sidekick Elliot get themselves into are the perfect opportunity to talk with you kids in a lighthearted way about making good choices and cause and effect. As a mother I love the fact that there is consequence to Frannie's actions and a lesson to be learned. These books have actually changed the way my daughter views reading now!

Frankly, Frannie is a delightful story about a girl who can't wait to grow up. It is filled with humorous situations that demonstrate just how far her perception strays from reality. Children reading this book can enjoy her unique way of expressing herself while also starting to realize things aren't always as they seem.
