I coach new educators every day and this book is invaluable. It has clear techniques, shares the reasons behind the rules, and it is funny too. I strongly recommend it if you are struggling to manage your group or keep having trouble with 'helpless handraisers' or 'backtalk.'

Simply put: This book covers all the bases. If you are a new teacher stressing out, this book is a must. If you are a veteran teacher searching for that spark you had a few years ago, this book is the answer. For whatever reason, colleges do a really poor job preparing this country's soon-to-be teachers. All I remember learning about in my EDU classes was theory after theory. Once I started teaching I quickly realized that my college professors didn't prepare me for the realities of teaching. (All of you veterans out there know exactly what I am talking about.) Anyhow, if you are looking to be more successful in the classroom, at any point in your career, pay the $30 and if this book takes away just one headache during your next month of teaching then it was worth it.

Fred Jones offers a helpful and easy way for teachers to manage his or her classroom. This book is useful for beginning or veteran teachers. While the book may sound like it is geared for teachers, it also help students because it all about effective management and engagement. There are tips about how to set up your classroom to how to deal with chronic problem students. All teachers can relate to these situations as described in the book. Ultimately, each teacher must decide what works best for his or classroom, but there are great ideas and suggestions in this book. I highly recommend this book for ALL teachers of ALL levels.

It is very informative and presents its pertinent information with a humorous delivery. The illustrations will make you laugh. The book reveals useful techniques of classroom management and teaching. I highly recommend Tools for Teaching.

This book has some great ideas but seems to discuss skills and techniques in opposite order. Written for upper grades. Seems author does not have immediate knowledge about what a primary classroom is like.
