Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Marilyn Courtot
The illustrations would indicate that in spite of the publication date, this book is not new. The parents have a 1950s look with dad in a suit with a hat and mom dressed up too. The kids—Freddie and Flossie—are going with their parents for a visit to grandma's. They are taking the train, which is another hint that this book is set in another decade. Once settled in their seats, Freddie opens the box with his pet cat Snoop, who promptly escapes. Where he ends up adds the humor to this simple story. The ending is also amusing for kids who have sharp eyes and have looked at the pictures. As an early reader it does the job and kids will feel like grown-up readers when they can finish this one on their own. A Pre level 1 book in the "Ready-to-Read" series.
