Editorial Reviews

Library Journal
This novel by the late Gardner made its debut in 1980. The title's meaning is twofold: Freddy is the central character in this tale of human relationships, but he also is the author of a novel whose story is juxtaposed against the lives of the book's characters. ``The net result,'' said LJ 's reviewer, ``is one of Gardner's most subtly moving and persuasive fictions on life and its conduct'' ( LJ 3/1/80).

    Snowball

Snowball is a &female cat. She is all white with blue eyes. She looks just like a real kitten. Children adore her. She's playful and sweet during the day, but during the night, blood-curdling wails fill the air. During the day, she looks like l just told you she looks like, but during the night, she has no eyes. Blood drips from her empty eye sockets. Her claws are ripped out and she leaves trails of blood when she walks. She is always tilting her head from side to side, smiling evilly. Her teeth are razor sharp and will kill you with one bite.
