It will open your heart and your mind

A must-read for anyone who has ever wondered what motivates animal rights activists—particularly those who engage in direct action—to devote their lives to saving animals. Through engagingly written stories of daring rescues, Free the Animals helps us see that the animals who are abused and killed on fur farms, in laboratories, and in the meat industry are unique individuals who feel pain and value their lives. Even the most hardened meat-eater or fur-wearer would be challenged to walk away from reading this book without a bit more compassion for our fellow earthlings—as well as the brave people who are working to save them.

    GREAT BOOK

Fantastic book about a much needed (though much maligned) group of freedom fighters.

    Eco-terrorism

The ALF is an eco-terrorist group, thats what the FBI calls them, and that is what they are. This was a poor book. Mrs. Newkirk did a poor job. Some of the stuff she says is so funny...she is defending a eco-terrorist group!

A Must Read for animal lovers and anyone who cares

The story of Valerie, founder of the American Animal Liberation Front (ALF) is told by Ingrid Newkirk in such a way that the reader cannot put the book down. The book packs adventure with compassion and a new understanding of the relations between animals and men. This book was a great eye opener for me, and it is a great yet fictionalized introduction to the animal liberation/animal rights issue. Read this book and open your eyes too.
