Editorial Reviews

VOYA - Cassandra Rondinella
Freedom Heroines is book four of the Profiles series. Each of the books in this series is about the lives of a group of people with something in common. In Freedom Heroines, the lives of six women who fought for suffrage rights are highlighted: Susan B. Anthony, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Jane Addams, Ida B. Wells, Alice Paul, and Rosa Parks. Each section gives information about their early lives, turning points and special events, the results of their actions, and the ends of their lives. While reading through the book, it is interesting to learn how each of the women is somehow linked to one another through their common interests and goals. Freedom Heroines is great for the middle school level. It is broken down into individual biographies, each of which is color coded. Within each of the individual biographies, the different sections of people's lives are presented in small, readable sections no more than one to two pages or five to six paragraphs. The vocabulary is appropriate for middle school students, so if there are more difficult words they can figure out the meaning. This is an excellent resource to be added to either a school or public library. Reviewer: Cassandra Rondinella
