    Wow Amazing book!

I am between the ages of 9-14..., I read this book at least 8 times. It was one of my all-time favorite books, and when I was still in the role-playing stage, I loved to pretend that I was Harriet Tubman and go sneaking around the house imagining I was leading a troop of former slaves to freedom!...I have always thought of Harriet Tubman as a great woman and a hero, and this is the only book I've read on her life. It is exciting, riveting reading... When my younger brothers and sisters grew old enough to read it, it became one of their favorites too, and our old paperback edition was literally read and read until it fell to pieces! That's why I logged on to BarnesandNobles.com today... we finally had to throw away our old copy, it's fallen apart into about 5 pieces and there are parts missing, and I wanted to order a new copy! But when I saw that ridiculous review, I couldn't stay silent! This is a GREAT book, I heartily recommend it.

'Let my people go!' are the famous words of the great Harriet Tubman.

This story is about the very brave Harriet, a black girl who was born into slavery. As a child, she had big dreams to travel the dangerous trip to Pennsylvania, to freedom, but she never thought it possible. One day, when she was alone in her cabin, she decided she couldn't take it any longer. She packed a ticking bag full with food, and a knife. She made it to Philadelphia within a week. She was free at last! After a year of living the free life, she spoke to William Still, a man involved with the Underground Railroad about devising a plan to help her go back into Maryland, into slave territory once more, to free her family and friends. She made this dangerous journey back and forth numerous times, endangering her life to free her people. 'Let my people go' is the famous saying of this wonderful woman, without whom many people would have died because of slavery. This book is outstanding, and has terrific detail in all of Harriet's feelings and thoughts. The memory and legacy of this kind-hearted woman will live forever in our hearts.

Harriet Tubman A slave lady that helped people to freedom

I think this story is an exellent selection to read. I learned that if you did not do something for your master ( in this story Miss Sarah) then you will be whipped. It can make you feel heart broken. If you had black skin you are a slave. I think that is a horrible thing.
