Freemind off to a Great Start!

This is the story of McKinsey Flint, the Future Comics equivalent of Steven Hawkin. An absolute genius trapped in a worthless body. Flint had only one dream in life and that was to be normal. In his quest he created his own technology company to try to fulfill that dream. And so The Freemind Project was born. The Freemind Project was an attempt to create an artificial body that Flint could transfer his consciousness to and finally be able to move and speak on his own. This book, collecting issues #0-3 of the Freemind series, follows the progression of the Freemind Project from its early failings to its final result. The creators did a great job introducing us to this fantastic and interesting concept, but unfortunately, once introduced we see very little of the concept in action. The mix of real world sciences regarding robotics and the limitations of the human brain is a lot of fun though and worth reading in and of itself. The book also includes several editorials from the creators, which give great insight into the things we can expect from future offerings. However, after reading them it left me a bit disappointed that the characters within the story were not in as much awe of the technological advances they had created and witnessed as the editorials led you to believe they would be. But that is a minor gripe. Overall, it is a highly interesting concept and is perfect for any real science buffs, but it's also equally enjoyable to those that are not. The only warning is that the book is compiled in a somewhat odd fashion in that the editorials are placed throughout the story as one issue ends and before the next begins, but that has no real overall impact on the enjoyment of the story.

    JUST AWESOME!!!

This book rocks. I love all of Future Comics' books, and this one is no exception. Great art, solid storytelling, I can't wait for the next one! Layton, Michelinie, and Giordano do it again!
