Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - JoAn Watson Martin
Fans of Martha Stewart will appreciate reading that her two beloved French Bulldogs are often on her show. They have their own website, The Daily Wag. Easy to train, French Bulldogs are well behaved, curious, and alert. They are even willing to tolerate being dressed in costumes by their owners. At the Twycross Zoo a French Bulldog, Bugsy, served as a babysitter to two baby orangutans that had been abandoned by their mother. Bugsy had been around animals all his life and usually paid no attention to them. When the zoo director brought Malone home, the French Bulldog took over her care with lots of doggy kisses. Historically English bulldogs and French bulldogs were bred as companions to rich people who wanted small lap dogs. Also, the breed is ideal for people in city apartment living. They don't bark, but make strange sounds with their short noses and pushed in faces. Sidebars also add to the factual knowledge of the little dog's history, its appearance, and its personality, and more factual material is located in the last five pages of the book. This is an excellent book for those who may be deciding which breed of dog would make the best pet. The series, "Little Dogs Rock II" spotlights six different breeds, is filled with colorful action shots. Reviewer: JoAn Watson Martin
