Overview

Indestructibles are the 100 percent baby proof, chew proof, rip proof, completely washable, and nontoxic series of books.  Books built for the way babies read, Indestructibles are printed on an amazing nontoxic, paperlike material that holds up to endless chewing, gumming, gnawing, grabbing, bending, and pulling. Then, once the books get dirty, parents can throw them in a dishwasher or washing machine to make them clean as new.

The title is adapted from classic nursery rhymes and illustrated by Jonas Sickler. Sickler’s paintings are whimsical and fun, filled with dazzling textures and eye-popping color. They will grab and keep a baby’s attention, and delight adults. The book offers a multicultural twist on a classic nursery rhyme — in Frere Jacques, a sleeping pastry chef dreams of bonbons and crêpes flying over the streets of Paris. The text for the nursery rhyme is printed on the back cover.

Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Marilyn Courtot
A familiar rhyme has been given new life in a book that is part of the "Indestructibles" series. They claim to be chew proof, rip proof, nontoxic, and 100% washable—sounds like a perfect baby book. There is no text, the actual rhyme is found on the back cover of the book. The pictures in this version are collage illustrations and the setting is Paris—the Eiffel Tower is the major clue. Frere Jacques is a baker and what a collection of confections appear on these pages—enough to make any parent or caregiver's mouth water. Those parents and caregivers who are creative can point out the different ones—cakes, gingerbread men, cones, cookies, doughnuts, eclairs, and more. The representations are a bit fanciful since you would not see houses made of cookies and candies nor a big red cherry on top of the Eiffel Tower. A lightweight book that can easily be handled by a very young child while on a trip or just about anywhere. Reviewer: Marilyn Courtot
