    Music Theory

The book provides an understanding of the complex music theory behind the playing of the guitar. For those who have suffered countless music lessons at the hands of instructors who could not truly explain why you were being taught the way you were playing the guitar or answer some of your more difficult questions, fret board logic does truly answer those questions. It explains the why in how to play the guitar! I recommend this to all of those who need to understand the theory behind great guitar playing.

    more from this reviewer

    I Also Recommend:

Fretboard Logic Special Edition organizes scale forms and guitar patterns in a logical, understandable framework.

The book can be a bit overwhelming to the new guitar player but is a great reference, especially for those with 1-2 years experience. The 5 basic chords forms are explained, the CAGED sequence of chords, barre chords and movable chord forms, lead patterns, and more. What I really appreciate as someone who have been playing for less than a year is section two which explains, triads, seventh chords, augmented and dominant chords, modes, arpeggios and more. Great book for learning for the beginner and a great reference for the experienced player. Many nice diagrams included.

    The best investment ever!

I was searching for a book to help me further my guitar development when I came upon Fretboard Logic. I bought the first book in the series which came with a DVD and boy was I glad I did! It was a real mind opener. I soon realized gaps in my understanding of how chords, scales and lead patterns relate to the fretboard and why the guitar is tuned the way it is. Needless to say, I wish I had this book/DVD years ago! The best part is that I found out that Mr. Edwards lives in my home town and I am now taking my 13 year son to Mr. Edwards for guitar lessons! How awesome is that! His progress under Mr. Edwards is simply astonishing! In just about six months time (missing about 4 lessons) he finished book one and is able to play both rhythm and lead parts to four to five beginner and intermediate level songs. He is now well under way to learning book two. I am amazed as I sit and watch my son play well beyond my 15 years of trying to teach myself.

Thank you Bill Edwards, Anxiously awaiting your future endeavors.

    Best book yet

I have only worked with volume one so far. I have been playing for 3 years and I knew I was lacking in many of the basic fundamentals of guitar. I have purchased several books, and read them, and worked with what they offered. Unfortunately many books really just tell you what to do and then leave you hanging. This book explains the logic and reasoning behind the information. Every night after working out of this book I have an 'aha!' moment. I have developed more of an understanding in the few weeks that I have been working with this book than in the complete three years before.

    Best Guitar Book Ever

This book will give you a better understanding of the guitar quicker than any other book - the CAGE approach (unique to the guitar) will help you not just learn specific chords and scales but how to form chords/scales all along the fretboard in all keys, quickly. Your understanding of the guitar will likely be far ahead of your ability to play the guitar, but what a nice postion to be in!
