FRICTION is the second in Samantha Hunter¿s HotWires trilogy and like its predecessor, it¿s a complex and tense romantic thriller. Sarah and Logan both have mixed up and rough pasts, things that prevent them from telling the truth to each other at first. They are afraid to let too much slip and become vulnerable to someone. Ms. Hunter is skilled at creating characters with plenty of emotional hang-ups, but more importantly, she¿s able to get the characters to let go of their problems in a realistic and touching manner. Sarah and Logan¿s trust in each other is gradually built up until they don¿t even realize themselves how much they have come to rely on each others intelligence and quick thinking. Interspersed with the serious moments are plenty of fun and carefree moments to give the reader a chance to get to know these well rounded characters. Vacation antics and mishaps populate this story, breaking up what would otherwise be an almost too serious and dramatic tale. Ms. Hunter knows that readers like a thriller but also that readers don¿t want a story that is depressing and FRICTION is a nice balance of serious police matters and evolving relationship thrills. This is an amazing follow up to FASCINATION and will guarantee that readers are going to be hungering for the third tale, EJ¿s story, in FLIRTATION. Sarah W, Romance Junkies. 4.5 stars
