About the Author

M. Scott Peck, M.D. author of the extraordinary bestseller, The Road Less Traveled, is one of the most influential writers of our time. He is also the author of Further Along the Road Less Traveled, The Road Less Traveled and Beyond, A World Waiting to Be Born, and The Different Drum. Dr. Peck, a psychiatrist, has three grown children, including Christopher, and lives in Connecticut with his wife, Lily.

Christopher Peck lives in San Francisco's Lower Haight neighborhood. He attended the Academy of Arts College, and he is currently studying web design and forming a music video production company.

For years, the author of the bestselling The Road Less Traveled, was asked when he was going to write a children's book. This book, beautifully illustrated by the author's son, is that book. It tells the story of Jenny, who walks out in a meadow hoping to experience the first big snow of the year, and "Harry, " the friendly snowflake who lands on her nose and opens up a whole world of ideas for her. 20 full-color illustrations.

Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly - Publisher's Weekly
For his first foray into children's book writing, bestselling author Peck ( The Road Less Traveled ) has concocted a slender, self-conscious story. A snowflake lands on young Jenny's nose and she names it Harry. This seemingly insignificant happening causes the reflective child to ponder the concepts of chance, the soul and the interrelatedness of all things. In what often seems like a Sunday school tableau, Jenny's parents are endlessly didactic. (Her father, for instance, says, ``Some questions are so big you shouldn't take anyone else's answer for them.'') The reader is left with the final image of a small stream leading to a river leading to the ocean; Jenny wonders if this is like veins leading to a human heart. Don't expect youngsters to sit through this prattle more than once. Similar universal themes have been more thoughtfully hidden--and/or revealed--to better effect in other works. In his illustrative debut, Christopher Peck's delicately attractive pictures are sprinkled throughout the text. All ages. (Dec.)
