I received this book as a gift from my best friend after going through a particularly bitter breakup. It was a 4 year relationship and my only serious adult one, so you can imagine I was really torn up. The book came as part of a care package that included a box of tissues, a box of entenmens chewy chocolate chip cookies (the best- but i advise you not to eat 20 at once...major nausea), and a couple of classic 80's flicks. i think the book is perfect for what it is- light reading and solid female-written advice for getting through the first month of a breakup. it's written in a humorous and cute way and doesn't take itself too seriously. its obvious the author has some real experience with relationships and i like that there are expert opinions on some topics. while i cant say i employed every single piece of advice the book dishes out, there were a bunch of tips that i deliberately tried out and they absolutely helped. the breakup bible, where i asked my girlfriends for advice about breakups and relationships as a whole, made me realize how common breakup are, and how everyone ends up OK. its hard to not feel like its the end of the world (in some ways, it is...) but its important to know that the world WILL start up again. call me vain but i also enjoyed the "change your hair" and "buy a look at me dress" tips. i know beauty is on the inside and all that jazz but goddammit it still feels good to go out and KNOW you're being checked out. after 4 years with my ex, it was nice to feel noticed and appreciated by other guys and not feel guilty about it. ill admit, i still occasionally do a facebook stalk of my ex and his (not-so-attractive) new girlfriend, but i can honestly say i'm 99% over the relationship and have moved on to the <<bigger>> and better things in this great city i call home. the 30 day breakup guide was a big part of that journey and i am hanging on to my copy.

I found this book online after going through a break-up and looking for some tips-- bought it on a whim. I was a little skeptical at first but the advice in this book is so great and PRACTICAL! It really allowed me gain some perspective and start doing healthy things for myself during a tough time. Love it.

This quick read is chock-full of great advice that's at turns lighthearted and serious, with the author's sassy words of wisdom backed up by studies and quotes from therapists and psychology professors. Yes, it's girly, but that's kind of the point! And for all the pink nail polish, it remains a practical day-to-day guide for getting over a breakup that reminds women to take a look in the mirror and remember how to celebrate themselves--always a valuable message in my book.

Eye catching book title, but I was disappointed by its predictable contents.

I like the title, that's why I bought this but I would avoid this one.
