Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Marilyn Courtot
You know there are going to be a few laughs when you see the name of the camp on the cover—Camp Run-A-Muck. Froggy is really excited and has packed all his things for camp. Off they go, mom, dad, baby sister, and Froggy. But after an hour Froggy remembers that he forgot his sleeping bag, so they turned around to go home and get it. Then two hours later Froggy realizes that he has forgotten his swim trunks. Back they go again. By the time they get to the camp it is evening and Froggy suddenly wants to go home. Things change a bit when he meets his bunkmates and finds out that his cabin is named Wildcats. The camp director is Mr. Mugwort, the school principal. Well with Froggy being the crazy kid he is, there is one mishap after another as he spills breakfast on Mr. Mugwort, hits him with an arrow, splashes him when he does a cannonball into Lake Winnemucca, hits him with a banana and tips over the kayak. For Froggy it was a great week. The illustrations are just as funny as the story and kids will love the song that Froggy sings on his way back home. Reviewer: Marilyn Courtot
School Library Journal

K-Gr 3- This tale about the beloved Froggy will not disappoint devoted fans. School is over and it is time for him to go to Camp Run-A-Muck. After two false starts, he arrives and is happy to find that its leader is his long-suffering principal, Mr. Mugwort. Froggy is uncomfortable because he doesn't know anyone, but he soon makes friends and enters into the fun. Children will be delighted when he accidentally dumps eggs on Mr. Mugwort's head and later shoots him with a suction-cup arrow. As always, London's text is succinct, snappy, and full of fun sound effects. Remkiewcz's watercolor illustrations are humorous and action packed. This is a great book for youngsters who may be worried about attending overnight camp for the first time, or for anyone who just loves Froggy.-Donna Cardon, Provo City Library, UT
