Overview

Froggy needs a Halloween costume. But what should he be? He could be Super Frog, faster than a dragonfly, stronger than a bullfrog! Maybe he should be something scarier, like Vampire Frog! Finally, Froggy knows just what to be. With a zwoosh!, a zup!, and a zunk!, Froggy is dressed and ready to go trick-or-treating-as the Frog Prince. Froggy's new costume is perfect, until Princess Frogilina spots him! Uh-oh, looks like this could be the ...

Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Marilyn Courtot
Halloween is approaching and Froggy can't decide what he should be. How about Super Frog flying through the sky, or Ghost Frog haunting friends and family, or better yet, what about dressing as Vampire Frog? Well, after a week of pondering and rejecting a variety of costumes, Froggy decides to become a Frog Prince. He really looks cute and Frogilina finds him irresistible. After a narrow escape from his amorous pursuer, Froggy finishes up his trick-or-treating, but when he gets home he finds that his sword has cut a hole in his bag and it is empty. Never fear Mother saves the day. Another delightful addition to the Froggy tales.
School Library Journal
PreS-Gr 2 Froggy approaches Halloween with the same boundless enthusiasm that he brings to everything else in his life. As usual, though, he goes too far and embarrasses himself. After much deliberation, he decides to dress as the Frog Prince, making himself so cute that Frogilina cannot resist giving him a kiss. Froggy leapfrogs away but somehow finds himself on a front porch with Frogilina falling on top of him. It is enough to make any frog blush. He loses his candy as he jumps home but his mother is ready with his favorite treat chocolate-covered flies. The bright cartoon pictures clearly complement the text. Glee, surprise, happiness, pride, and shame are all flawlessly expressed on the faces of Froggy and his friends. Children will just love this frog, and non-scary Halloween stories are much needed, especially good ones.
