Overview

From gudgeon to carp is the story of an angler and his fishing life so far, plus all of the adventures along the way. It describes his progression from catching small fish on the canal as a young boy, through many different species of fish, and larger and yet larger quarry. But all these different fish lead on to the ultimate prize - Carp.
At the time of writing, the author has been an angler for over forty years and for the last twenty years he has fished almost exclusively for carp. He has not sought publicity or fished the high profile circuit waters, preferring instead to fish on the quieter less pressured venues. This does not make him any less of angler however, as the capture of many large carp, including a personal best mirror carp of 48 lbs.6 oz. would seem to testify.
Although predominantly about angling, this is a book that can be enjoyed by non-anglers too, as page after page reveals all the ups and downs that he experiences in search of his obsession.
Names have been changed to protect the innocent, but the story is almost totally true, or as near as the authors fading memory would allow.

Meet the Author

Steve Graham is married to Anita and has two children - Lynne and John, and two grandchildren called Logan and Dylan. He is sixty years old and took early retirement in 2005.Steve has been fishing since the age of eight and has fished for most species of fish found in England, but over the last twenty to twenty-five years has fished almost exclusively for Carp.He prefers quiet low-stock waters rather than the busier high profile circuit waters and now spends as much time fishing in France as he does in this country. He currently has a personal best Mirror Carp of 48 lbs.6 oz. and a personal best English Common carp of 42 lbs.8 oz.His pet hates are busy waters where you have to queue up for a swim, bait-boats, and anglers that show no respect for the fish or other anglers. His idea of a perfect fishing venue is a big old lake with a low stock of big carp with no names that will really set a challenge to the very few anglers that fish there.Steve has written three books so far. The first book 'From gudgeon to Carp' describes the story of his fishing life from his early years up until 2008. It includes the capture of his personal best Mirror Carp - a fantastic fish.Steve's second book 'More Carp fishing' carries on his story from where the first book ended up until 2012. This book describes his angling on several difficult low stock English waters as well as some fascinating French venues. In this book he describes the capture of several fantastic carp of over 'the magic forty pound mark.Steve's third book 'Carp fishing tips and theories' is totally different from the first two. It is crammed full of tips and theories which may just help the readers to put more carp on the bank.
