From Havana to New York

Editorial Reviews

All Music Guide
Yes, well, this Spanish compilation of recordings made in 1957 and 1961 respectively is just stunning. The Havana sides are part of the general descarga "jam-session" ferment that hit Cuba in the mid-'50s. The New York set, a logical extension of the idea, mixes Clark Terry and other jazzmen with Cuban musicians in about the most even típico/jazz balance I've heard. ~ John Storm Roberts, Original Music
