About the Author

Born and raised in Oil City, Pennsylvania, Ron Dolecki served in the U.S. Army during the mid-1960's. During this period, he underwent extensive training in topographic engineering and used his expertise in interpreting aerial photographs to provide services to operators of military helicopters and tactical vehicles in Ethiopia, East Africa. His activities in that country led to many adventures most people never get a chance to experience.
Following his exit from the Army, Mr. Dolecki earned a bachelor’s degree in 1970 from Pennsylvania Western University, which was formerly known as Clarion University of Pennsylvania. He was later hired by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) where he flourished from 1971 until 2004.
In recognition of his contributions to the country, Mr. Dolecki has been honored with many accolades to include a Meritorious Unit Commendation, an Operation Desert Storm Service Award, an Operation Enduring Freedom Award, a Good Conduct medal, a National Defense medal, and a Distinguished Civilian Service Medal. In 2022, he was also recognized with a Prisoner of War Medal commemorating his captivity by guerilla insurgents in Africa while a soldier way back in 1965. During that remarkable ordeal, he escaped captivity after being given up for dead.
Due to his widespread reputation as an accomplished soldier and intelligence officer, Mr. Dolecki has been featured in several major publications throughout his career such as The Baltimore Sun newspaper. He is also the featured subject of three YouTube videos.
Accompany Ron as he transitions from a boy who had never been away from home to a man with a happenstance resume that includes becoming a prisoner of war.
