Each is written in Joe's energetic, straightforward, and engaging style. In From My Perspective, he shares moments with celebrity friends, such as the late Johnny Cash and Dottie Rambo, and relates stories from his thirty-five years on the road with the Boys. No matter what the subject, Joe's entertaining reflections on life, music, patriotism, and God are often witty, sometimes sentimental, and always insightful.

Author Joseph Bonsall (aka Little Joey), is a member of the ever popular and successful Oak Ridge Boys. Through many short reflections and musings, Joseph shares special parts of his life. Who knew little Joey thought himself to be Elvis, or that he misses his Banjo, or that he is crazy about cats? Along with all the cute stories are recollections and thoughts on God, family, and living life. A PENNY FOR MY THOUGHTS: With so many reviews and recommendations from people (George H. W. Bush, Jerry B. Jenkins and Michael W. Smith), I was intrigued to learn more about Joseph Bonsall. Though having many reasons to not be humble, Joseph actually shares his faith, family and stories in a very down-to-earth manner, thanking God for what he has been blessed with (talent, family, humor). As I read this memoir on his life, I chuckled, nodded and even learned a bit about history including past presidents. Definitely a book for fans of The Oak Ridge Boys but an amusing, interesting read for others as well. RATING: 4.5 (out of 5) pennies *I received a complimentary copy of From My Perspective from Journey Press for my honest review*
My actual rating of this book is 2.5, but since I have to either choose a 2 or 3 star category, I shall go with the 2 as I don't think the book is good - I think it is FAIR. To me, Mr. Bonsall seems like he likes to brag just a bit. And it's so annoying that he mentions his book, "G.I. Joe and Lillie," over - and over - and OVER, and ALL THE TIME! The book does not move me to tears, and it's just kind of bland.
This is the first of Joseph's books I have read but I always loved his music with "The Oak Ridge Boys" I find that he is a fine writer as he is a singer and musician. This book is so fun to read, he tells about different things that has happened in his life, as the groups he was in before he joined the "Oaks". He tells somethings about his family, his farm, the travel on the road and what he enjoyed doing besides singing and music. He seems to be so humble and that he really loves God with all his heart. He alone with me really liked Elvis, and Joe thought he was going to be another Elvis so much he even dyes his hair jet black and while he was on the stage in the heat it all started to run down his face, it was so funny in the way he told it. This would be a great book for a gift for anyone on your list that loves music. Joe has sung different types of music and he seems to like most of them, except like all of us that are getting up in years, the "Rap" or what ever the young people call that loud noise of today. This book was graciously sent to me by Sheaf House Publication for review.
I am honored that Barnes and Noble carries my work...... I hope this book is entertaining and thought provoking as well as inspiring to YOU the reader....... God Bless.... Joseph S Bonsall
