An excellent, well written book; easy to read and understand.

This is an excellent work for junior or senior level education majors who desire an understanding of some of the basic tenets of several world class thinkers in the field. The authors have included a fine selection of philosophers, psychologists, and educational thinkers, as well as brief excerpts from each one, that allow the student to get something of the 'flavor' of each theorist. This book would also be useful to the layman who is interested in learning about various ideas on education from some of the greatest men and women in the history of the field.
