Editorial Reviews

Eileen Depka
"The six-step process highlights a pathway for teachers to make effective use of standards, design tasks that promote student engagement, and use rubrics to evaluate understanding. An excellenttool for those searching for an approach to school improvement efforts focused on increased student achievement. It's a phenomenal resource."
Richie Wood
"The book hits the target...to shift the paradigmfrom rote memorization to students understanding and connecting knowledge."
Julie Davis
"Teachers and administrators from our region have appreciated Kay’s practical approach to rubric design. By utilizing her framework and process, a teacher can begin with one of our state standards and grade level indicators and walk away with a rubric that accurately assesses student learning. Educators have appreciated the multiple examples Kay cites from other states and Canada. Her work with us in our area has served as a catalyst for web-based cross-regional sharing of performance tasks, checklists, and rubrics between educators. Kay’s work fosters collaboration and honors teacher professionalism."
