All children probably fantasize about running away at one time or another. This book allows us to escape with Claudia and Jamie. Set in much simpler times, this will surely spark discussion of the prices and technology of the '60s versus today!

I first read this book when I was an elementary student. It was a real page-turner and I read it a number of times. It is a book about a clever young girl making some adult choices and loving the adventure she is creating - and taking her little brother with her for the ride. Strong female characters and women aware of their abilities - bravo! By the way, I am now a junior high English teacher and am ordering this book to use with my seventh graders. I am sure they will love it!
