Misleading for a Wheel of Time Fan. If you have not read any of this series...Robert Jordan is worth reading, start with 'The Eye of the World'. What was most misleading was part one 'From the Two Rivers' has the label on the front of the book that says 'A New Prologue by the Author'. The first book, 'From the Two Rivers', does have a pre-prologue that I have not read before called 'Earlier-Ravens'. It is a 12 page depiction of Egwene (as a child) carrying water at Bel Tine in the spring during sheep shearing. I usually get my hands on everything I can that was written for the WOT series and I don't remember running across this bit of info. It was not worth buying the books for this pre-prologue. The rest of Part One 'From the Two Rivers' and all of Part Two 'To the Blight' are just 'The Eye of the World' word for word, split into two parts. This was published by Starscape (a Tom Doherty Associates, LLC publisher)and not by TOR (also Tom Doherty). The cover art was done by another artist (Charles Keegan), not by Darrell K. Sweet. If you have already read 'Eye of the World' this is a waste of money.

The Wheel of Time series is probably the most incredible series I've ever read. However, especially to those who already own 'Eye of the World', just be aware that this is simply a reprint with a relatively tiny amount of new material added.

For those of you that say how much they hate this book, you haven't read past the first book. I agree the first book in this series is a bit slow and takes time to build up, however the following books pick up and all the characters including the female ones grow considerably. I have read all 10 books and find that this releasing the same book with a different name to be very poor tactics, the publisher is doing nothing but ticking off the reader by selling them something they already have. Lets get the story finished and publish something we haven't read.

They split Eye of the World in two and repackaged it. The problem is, they don't sell part two, so I can either not finish the book, or spring for Eye of the World to read the second half...
I wish they would have made that more clear before buying it.

I have to buy part 2 in paper copy or buy the whole book for nook and lose what I already spent. The book is great but I wish I had known that part 2 wasn't available :(

I read this book because everyone was saying it was 'just like Lord of the Rings!' Well in my opinion, Lord of the Rings is still the best trilogy of all time, and this book was not nearly as well written. In fact, it was rather stale and cliched. What really bothered me though was the female characters. None of them were in the least admirable, or even likable. It seemed to me that they were just put in to try and attract girl readers. I would not recommend this book to anyone, but would rather tell them to fling it into a large fireplace for fear of it contaminating their mind.

Very slow moving. Could have cut out about 500 pages. Will try the second book since the reviews say it's better.

I Read what LAME wrote. Shallow words my friend. Robert Jordan DIED before he could put his notes in order, ENOUGH FOR THREE BOOKS. Brandon, was chosen to finish and should do it in TWO. Can't wait for the LAST BOOK, Damn good series of books. Tolkien is the one and only, but Jordan holds his own...........

From the Two Rivers An odd person named Moraine comes into the village of Edmond¿s field. Mysterious creatures attack a few days after she comes... Rand Al¿ Thor is a farm boy with a huge destiny ahead of him. It all starts when an Aes Sedai, Moraine, and Lan the Warder comes into the village of Edmond¿s Field and take Rand and his friends Perrin, Mat, Egwene, Nynaeve, and Thom on the biggest adventure ever. They fight Halfmen and Trollocs to reach Tar Valon so the will be safe from attack. They have had many twists and turns throughout this adventure, like Nynaeve showing up at the Stag and Lion. This is a book that I recommend greatly for fantasy lovers it is exciting and has many surprises. I like this book because of its storyline. It has many twists and surprises. When Rand is on his way to the village of Edmond¿s Field he sees a man on a black horse in a black cloak that is not touched by the wind. He sees this thing and tells his dad, Tam Al¿ Thor, about it. Tam says Rand¿s seeing things until all the other younglings are seeing the same things. Then Rand and Tam leave to go back to their farm for Festival and Winternight. Trollocs com to attack and Tam suffers a very high fever. He nearly dies. Rand drags him back to Edmond¿s Field and Moraine uses the One Power and an ¿angreal¿ to heal Tam. Before they get to far they encounter Mordeth an evil man over 100 years old. He nearly kills Rand, Mat, and Perrin. Then later on in the book the party of Rand, Lan, Moraine, Perrin, Mat, Egwene, Nynaeve, and Thom gets split up but Nynaeve finds Moraine and Lan, Thom, Mat, and Rand find a ride on ship when running away from Trollocs. Then Perrin finds Egwene. I also like this book because it is has very odd and exciting characters. Mat is very odd. He is always making mischief and causing people trouble, and he likes it. Then there¿s Rand. He is a very strange boy that blushes too much. He is always trying to keep out of trouble, except when he¿s in one of Mat¿s schemes. It seems he tries to keep calm about things. Nynaeve is a very stubborn person that has an exciting background. She is the Wisdom of Edmond¿s Field. She was trained by another Wisdom and now is trying to train Egwene to become a Wisdom. Egwene wants to be an Aes Sedai instead of a Wisdom and Moraine is teaching her. Lan is a Warder, which means he is a protector of something in this case Moraine, he has a black stallion, a color-changing cloak, and a sword. He fought off a Halfman. Moraine is an odd character she comes from Tar Valon with none of her Aes Sedai sisters to Edmond¿s Field to gather Rand, Perrin, and Mat because the Dark One wants them. I also like this story because the author makes it exciting not flat and boring. It is not a suspense story but Robert Jordan makes it go one way then another just like that. He makes it suspenseful. Rand will be about to die when he is saved. He should have been captured by Trollocs but wasn¿t. The whole party should have died, but then Moraine uses the One Power to protect them. Tam should¿ve died from his fever and being dragged but didn¿t. He makes it look like they will die but then they don¿t. Overall I think is an exciting and outstanding adventure about courage and evil. They make this book like any other fantasy story except more exciting and suspenseful. Robert Jordan is a great author 'too bad he just died. He never finished the series'. READ THIS BOOK!!!!!!

Although the series may drag on a bit, I have enjoyed reading this epic saga as much as i wouuld have watching Star Wars. I think Robert Jordan is the best fantasy writer since J.R.R Tolkien. I am anticipating the release of the next book in the series

Beautiful experience. A great beginning to an even greater series. Perhaps the most well writen and astonishing fantasy series that will ever be. If not it most certainly will be the second best. Dont pass up a chance like this. I read the first and was immediately sucked in. This is the start of an epic adventure so buy it. If you you enjoy half as much as myself then I can guarantee you will love livkng it.

It's a well written adventure with fantasy so well crafted that you believe and are immersed in that world. The characters are diverse and the story has enough twists that I'm not sure what is going to happen next. I liked it so much that I'm buying the next book in the series!

I love this series! I am into Chapter 5 of the latest book, Knife of Dreams, and I am having a hard time putting it down! I have had such a crush on Mat Cauthon since I met him in the first book, and have completely immersed myself into the lives of these characters. (You'd think that by age 36, I'd be a bit more grown up than that) I too, am hoping the series ends soon because the wait for Taramon Gai'don is killing me! The pieces of the prophecies are all falling into place, however, and I suspect that the series will end soon, probably with Book 12. I'm looking forward to Robert Jordan's next works.

The start of this book is a bit slow and dry. Until around page 50 its a bit slow going though it is incredibly well written. After page 50 the action picks up and doesn't stop. It is Lord of the Rings & Harry Potter-esque, so if you enjoyed Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter it is likely you will enjoy this book. A fun read!

From the Two Rivers was an extremely great book, and I am now starting To the Blight. This is an amazing series by Robert Jordan. I really enjoy this series, and it is almost like a new Lord of the Rings!

I can't wait to start these books all over again. I am going to read part II, which I have pre-ordered, and then start on book 1. This is a MUST read for all ages of fantasy. I could imagine living in Two Rivers and shearing the sheep. These books amazing; thank you for continuing the series and enabling my love of these characters to continue to grow.

I really enjoyed this book as I got into it. author did a wonderful job. Kept me so interested that I kept turning page after page and could not put the Nook eReader down until I finished the entire book. Typically not my type of book but when offered as a Free Book I will certainly give most books a shot unless they are smut or violence books. I find absolutely no need for them. We hear enough of the garbage around us and plastered all over the news.
Would read the second book that goes along with this one.

For Rand al’Thor and his pals, life in the sleepy village of Emond’s Field has been pretty dull. Until the appearance on festival night of Moiraine, a mysterious woman who claims to be an Aes Sdeai—a magician who can wield the One Power. Soon after, the village is attacked by...
