If From Where I Stand is a throwback to anything, it's to 1990, when roots rockers were preserved under so much varnish that it carried the reflection of the listener's unspoken hopes and desires, and if those aren't quite the deep roots the Modern West intend to convey here, there's at least no doubt that this workingman's band is sincere in its nostalgia and capable of delivering country-ish rock with crisp, clean lines.

    I just received the cd this past weekend and haven't listened to

    I just received the cd this past weekend and haven't listened to it yet, but I'm sure it's great. I took two long months to get it from Barnes & Noble. Thought it would never come in. Too much agony and frustration for ordering a single cd from Barnes & Noble. Probably will never order from them again.
