Meet the Author

Freelance travel writer and photographer Teresa Fisher has been a regular visitor to Vienna for over 25 years, lured by the art and architecture, the coffee houses and especially the city’s rich musical heritage. Although this is her first book for Frommer’s, she has authored more than twenty guidebooks for a variety of publishers (including Thomas Cook, Lonely Planet and the AA). A fluent German speaker, a music graduate and a specialist in European city breaks, Teresa was the obvious choice to write Vienna Day by Day.

I have visited Vienna several times before and was looking for something different in a travel guide for this trip. Things I haven’t done or walks I haven’t taken. So, I compared the descriptions of travel guides on line. This guide sounded like a good combination of information for first time visitors and returning visitors. So, I ordered it. I was very pleased with this guide. It’s small enough to carry around Vienna (it fits in the back pocket of my jeans but sticks out 1 1/2”) yet has plenty of good information. There are nice 1, 2, and 3 day itineraries, good information for those travelling with children, and special interest tours as well as neighborhood walks through several parts of the city. One feature that I especially appreciated was floor plans of many of the museums, palaces, and even the Schoenbrunn palace gardens. The guide has many good maps and is very easy on the eyes as it’s a colorful guide with lots of photographs.
