Overview

After years of running, Quinn has finally found a town to settle down in while she searches for the man who tore her life apart. Despite her every intention not to, she's started to put down some roots and make friends. However, the small bit of solace she's found is quickly shattered when a group of vampires walk into the bar where she works and turn her life upside down.
Looking only to stop for a few nights and have a good time, Julian never expected to stumble across someone like Quinn. Determined to keep her free from the vampires looking to use her as a weapon, Julian is stunned to discover himself starting to care for the mysterious woman with a dark past she's unwilling to reveal. It doesn't take him long to realize that the vampires after her are only a part of the problem. This quiet little town is hiding a violent secret of its own; a secret that not only threatens the town, but Quinn in particular.

My name is not really Erica Stevens, it is a pen name that I chose in memory of two amazing friends lost too soon, I do however live in Mass with my wonderful husband and our puppy Loki. I have a large and crazy family that I fit in well with. I am thankful every day for the love and laughter they have brought to my life. I have always loved to write and am an avid reader.

I feel like reading The Kindred series first would help with a lot of background information and clarifying things that had already happened prior to this book. I guess I ultimately didn't understand what was happening and why, which is why it was just okay for me. But it was good for a free read

Really liked this one. Had gotten Kindred, but couldn't get into it like this one. Want to read more about these 2!!! Over 150 pages of a good read

I love the fact that there are "good" vampires out there. Giving the character emotion makes this not the typical human romance. I always like a good out and out fight scene..."gently tugging [his] heart" before ripping it out of his chest and stomping it into the floor was a pretty gritty scene. I loved it!

Loved it. What is it about a guy who is willing to kill to keep you safe that's so swoon worthy? I don't know, but this guys got it in spades. Sigh

I am glad I read all of the Kindred books so I already knew some of Julian's back story. The greatest part is you don't have to have read that series to know whats going on! If you haven't read them yet you so should and while your at buy all her books! Anyway this book was so good I couldn't put it down. I strongly recommend this book to anyone. It's a great read and so easy to get lost in!!

If you have never read any of Erica Stevens' books ( and why is my question, WHY?? ) grab them , summer is here so reading time begins in earnest and go! I must say first off, I LOVED this book. The characters feel like people you could meet out on the streets and you have a heads up on them by Erica's writing. Very honest and fully fleshed out. Julian, Julian.....wait where was I? Oh yes, Julian, what a man, vampire, hunk. Gorgeous, hunky ( yes it is a word ) manly, you just want to get lost in him. He will take care of you or kill for you. What more is there? And Quinn, vamp and a few other things. ( Spoilers dear readers, never give them. ) She is a tough, caring, somewhat damaged gal. But it works for her and to keep her safe. And she has a special power, great power, that you need to read the book to find out about. There are fighting, loving, and romance scenes in this book. No sex scenes. I actually liked that part. But hopefully there will be mild sex scenes in the next books. ( Hey I am woman, hear me roar for mild sex scenes. ) If I could give more stars I would. But 5 is all I am allowed. BUY this book, grab some iced tea, a rum runner, beer and a comfy chair and lose yourself for a while. Oh, you are welcome. Enjoy!
