Praise for Richard C Hale's books:

"What a fantastic read. I highly recommend it."

"NEAR DEATH is a fast-paced, romance-laced, thought-provoking, and highly entertaining novel with an intriguing premise. Hale doesn't shortchange his readers on character development, either. The characters were well-defined, realistic, and had me simultaneously rooting for and against them. Terrific read!"

"Blew me away! An approach that I never saw coming. Well Done!!! I Can't wait to read your next book!"

"Wow, what an awesome read. I have not come across a book I could not put down like this since "The Firm" or "A Time to Kill"."

Amazing Read! Don't pass this one up! I purposely waited two days after reading FROZEN PAST by RICHARD C. HALE to write this review. My body felt shell shocked from the thrilling tension the author was able to convey in his highly charged writing. From beginning to end, Mr. Hale was able to keep me on the edge of my seat wondering what the demented, psychopathic serial killer was going to do next. I must say, this killer is one of the creepiest I've read about. I found that while reading about this monster's actions, my skin was crawling, my breath was catching and I was constantly clutching my chest. This book is told through several points of view. Many of the characters are young teens. Don't let that fool you. This is no YA novel. This is a novel for all of you suspense loving, thrill ride seekers and horror junkies like me. You'll find yourself screaming in your head over and over things like: "What the hell is going on?", "YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME?", "NOOOO! HE DIDN'T REALLY JUST DO THAT?" I can't say it any clearer. THIS BOOK IS FABULOUS! Being a romance lover, one of my favorite aspects to this book is the wonderfully sweet story of first love between Luke and Ellie. Mr. Hale was able to transport me back in time and helped me remember all of those wonderfully warm feelings of young love. I must say, I was not expecting to have such a touching storyline throughout this thriller. Another facet of this book that I thought was truly brilliant was the lead detective's character of Jaxon Jennings. Detective Jennings is not your normal tough, unstoppable crime fighting character that you find in so many suspenseful thrillers these days. Due to a tragic past that is tightly connected to the serial killer, Detective Jennings is a flawed and sometimes weak character that I found myself wanting to slap silly occasionally so he wouldn't give up. As the reader, you are not sure if he is going to catch the maniacal serial killer or not, which added a whole new level of stress to this story for me. If you like heart stopping suspense and the thrill of a really scary emotional roller coaster ride, you have just got to read this book. You won't be able to put it down. Beware, FROZEN PAST does contain extreme violence.

This book was so hard to put down because I could never find a stopping place! It was such a page turner that it kept me reading way into the night. Such a nice change of pace from what I have been reading lately! Suspenseful, chilling mysterious and keeps you guessing until the very end. I will definitely be reading more of this author's novels! Loved it!

A well writen book about phycos, mystery, murder, and more. I really didn't see the ending coming and there is always a surprise around the next bend. Although as a 13 year old myself after reading I refused to be alone on my own and had nightmares for a week solid. Do not read if you are younger than 15!!!!

This free book has 374 pages and is nicely edited. Nice, right? Wrong! This book is incredibly gruesome. I could not finish it. In the epilog a child goes missing on Halloween night, i am not giving anything away about the plot or story, but you may want to stop reading here. In the first cgapter, a young girl's dog is brutily killed, his head cut off and pictures of the dog and the incident are posted along with threats on Face Book. This book is pretty violent and gory. There is mild profanity and sexual situations. I am going to be hinest and admit to not reading past chapter six. The story seemed disjointed and choppy. No pun intended. For readers 18 and up, with strong constitutions. Not chick lit. For both sexes. I hate animal abuse. It bothers me more than human tortures does. AD

This book was very well written, thrilling, and kept you on the edge of your seat all the way to the end. Kudos to the author.

The young characters spoke and behaved like 11 year olds some of the time...playing kick the can, for instance, then romantically behaved like 20 year olds. Too many inconsistencies in the tone of the book and far too long for the story the book offered.

A serial killer is on the loose. First beheaded dogs then people. These are not just random people....the killer has an agenda...the real target is a detective and the killer kills others to draw in the detective. Great read.

This book is an excellent thriller that I did not want to put down. Many reviewers complain that it is gruesome but that's how thrillers are. If yiu have a weak stomach, don't read it; otherwise it's creepy, emotional and full of action. Well done.

Kept me glued to the nook. This was a freebie from book bub. I'm looking for more by the author. Although I figured a few things out earlier (no spoilers) the ride to the finale was great!

This is really a well written book that I feel could be made into a full length motion picture. It kept me engrossed as I read the twists and turns these young people go through. The detective and the F.B.I.'s investigator are soon caught up with the killer's macabre thought process. Looking forward to Richard c. Hale's next book.

Really this rambled on too long for me. The story is a bunch of nasty killings for no reason. I won't say more cause I don't want to ruin this for other readers, could have been a decent story but wasn't unless your a teen and don't catch the parts that don't make sense
