All Music Guide - Stephen Thomas Erlewine
Fruit Tree is a four-disc box set featuring all three of Nick Drake's studio albums Five Leaves Left, Bryter Layter, Pink Moon and the rarities collection Time of No Reply. In other words, it contains every known recording Drake made during his brief lifetime, and listening to the set, the depth of his talent becomes abundantly clear. And the four discs are not overkill. The quality of Drake's songs was startlingly high, and anyone who purchases one disc will eventually need the other three albums, making Fruit Tree a logical way to acquire all of the records at once.

    The best music ever

If you haven't heard Nick Drake you've missed perhaps the best contemporary music produced in the last 50 years. While Drake only made three albums (and a few more songs) before his untimely death, there is enough here to last a lifetime. I play this music repeatedly and it never disappoints. Drake's lyrics can be moody, but you'll appreciate the depth as you listen over the years. The music itself never feels dated. It could have been produced at any time, any place. And Drake's playing is as good as any guitar work you'll ever hear. If you really want to be challenged and ultimately rewarded with great musical and lyrical ability, buy this boxed set. You won't regret it.
