Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Anita Barnes Lowen
Lindsey and Connor have been friends since childhood. It seems a given that when seventeen-year-old Lindsey undergoes her transformation from human to werewolf, Connor will be there for her. Lindsey should be happy, but she is not. Guilty thoughts of Rafe fill her mind. "So sexy...when he drops that dangerous gaze to my lips, I want to melt into his arms and pull his mouth down to mine for a taste of the forbidden." Connor is her destiny, or is he? The fierce battle that has been raging in her heart all summer long has now become one of flesh and blood as Rafe challenges Connor to claim Lindsey as his chosen mate. This second book in the Dark Guardian series is a good choice for those who love fantasy, romance, and werewolves. It is filled with raging teenage hormones, suggestions of sexual activity and modest werewolves who duck behind trees or bushes to shed or don clothing when shapeshifting. Great Series! I loved it!

This is a great read for younger and older teens. I'd call it a sweet romance. Like the first book (with Kayla) it is set in a national forest. The story centers around a group of shifters that are human but can also change their shape into a wolf. The love triangle includes: Connor, the perfect boy and playmate, Rafe, the ultimate bad boy, and Lindsey, the all American girl (except for the shifter part). The story pulled me straight in with Lindsey trying to be the 'good girl' and stay with Connor who she grew up with but wanting Rafe, the bad boy. Rafe and Connor both wanted her but it was up to her to make the right choice. To make matters worse it wasn't a decision she could change in a couple of years because shifters mated for life. Even when Lindsey can't make up her mind, Rafe never gives up on her. It gave a feeling of 'I will do anything for my mate even if she doesn't want me' One plot was ongoing from the first book but this book still had a great ending and didn't leave me hanging. Like the first one it was too short but I still highly recommend it for an enjoyable read.

    Full Moon

This is a total love triangle. The whole book was drama, twists and turns. I loved it. Lindsay has already has Connor as her mate. But when he times come around to shift she is suddenly feeling different about Connor. They are the golden couple that has always been together. Both their parents already agreed on their relationship and is only waiting for Lindsay's shift to come to make it official.

Lindsay meet Rafe who is making her feel different. She is suddenly unsure of her feelings toward Connor, while her feelings toward Rafe strengthen. She only has a limited amount of time to pick who she wants to be with for the rest of her life. Will it be sweet Connor who is always there for her. Or Rafe who is dark and dangerous who make her have chills?

In the end I knew Lindsay would make the right desicion. You have to go with what your heart is telling you.

This book was well written and an easy read. The plot was great. I throughly enjoyed the book. No course words or bad scenes. Great for teens who love that paranomal romance. It is still light and fluffy on some parts.

Full Moon by Rachel Hawthorne Review

Can I just say....love triangle anyone? Wow, talk about being torn between two guys....poor Lindsey! Full Moon, the second installment in the Dark Guardian's series by Rachel Hawthorne picks up right where Moonlight left off and we're immediately thrown back into the action and romance that I came to love about this series. Lindsey's transformation is coming up and a girl needs a guy to get through it, but not just any guy...her one true mate, and wolves mate for life...no pressure on making the right choice huh? Yikes!

So is Lindsey going to go with her constant friend over the years and current boyfriend, Connor or will Rafe pique her interest with his bad boy ways? You guys have to read this book, it's just so good. I've seen and read stories with love triangles before and usually I've got no sympathy for the girl or guy who's in the middle, because who hasn't dreamed about having two people fighting for their attentions right? But not so much in this case, I actually felt for Lindsey and was feeling just awful for her, I mean this was not just about choosing a guy to go to a dance with or have a romantic dinner, we're talking FOREVER here and if you choose wrong, there's no turning back and nothing you can do about it, ouch!

Rachel Hawthorne's writing is compelling and you'll find yourself flying through the pages and having no trouble finishing this one in no time at all. I've read the first and now the second book of this series in two days, yep you heard me, it's been a book a day. It's a great read for a rainy day or one where you just want to be entertained by a book and nothing else. Full Moon will keep you guessing, make you miserable for the main characters and the struggles they're going through and at the same time you might just find your heart breaking over events that take place one minute and the next you could be overjoyed...I guess it all depends on who you're rooting for in the end.

Most of you know by now that I love a good series because I never have to say goodbye to the characters I've grown to love and can't get enough of, and the Dark Guardian's series is no exception. Hawthorne might move on to focus on other characters more fully with each new book, but she doesn't leave behind our old favorites. All the characters are brought back into this installment and I was glad.

This series has everything I'm usually looking for; romance, action and intrigue and enough suspense that I had to keep turning the pages in order to find out what happened next....and did I mention romance? There's no way to resist the characters Hawthorne's created and the story she's spinning, and to be honest you won't want to. So if you haven't given this series a try I totally recommend it.

Lindsey's had her whole life mapped out for her, including her soul mate. Her parents have chosen him and they've grown up together. Connor is in all of her important memories - but lately she's beginning to question if she loves him because she loves him or because they've been pushed together so often that she can't imagine herself without him.

It's no surprise that she's having these thoughts when she can't get Rafe out of her head. His glances leave her breathless - something Connor's never does. She dreams about kissing him.

In her society, mates are chosen after one's 17th birthday to help with the change. The transformation into a werewolf for the first time is a painful process, and having your mate there eases the pain and intensifies the experience.

Lindsey doesn't know who or what to trust. Her friends aren't really a big help, either, because Brittany believes the system is archaic since males go through the transformation without their mates. Plus, Kayla's so disgustingly happy with her mate. How will Lindsey decide something so important and in such a short time - with her heart or her head?

FULL MOON is the second book in the DARK GUARDIAN series. Each book is written from a perspective of a girl in the pack about to transform for the first time, and each takes a different look at love. There's danger lingering over from the first book, with scientists looking to capture and run tests on a werewolf and expose their secrets.

Danger, paranormal, and romance - the perfect combination!

    Moonlight

I cannot wait for this one! I discovered the first one while out for D.I. competitions, and I just had to have it after reading the back and the first couple of pages. It's a good series so far, one that keeps you reading and reminds you of the rush that you feel when you find a really good book. One that you just can't put down. I'm getting so excited and can't wait to see what is going to happen next for the pack!

    An incredible series!

I just finished this book and I was truly amazed!
Lindsey was a very relate-able character and the way she handles her love triangle is I think a lot more realistic than some books now-a-days. She really did care about both guys but she had to learn to follow her heart to find her true mate.
This series is honestly quite astonishing! I love fantasy books, but they're seldom believable. What I liked so much about this series can be summed up in about 3 things.
    1. Werewolves-I have this fascination with them, and no it's not from Twilight, (Team Edward here!) but I just think they're really cool!
    2. Romance-come on I'm a teenage girl, of course I love this aspect! It's very clean, but has some steamy kisses. They don't have sex, they're modest, and each character learns to follow her heart through out these books. (Each book is told through the first person narrative of a different girl member of the pack)
and 3. How incredibly original and creative they are! The idea of Werewolves (or as they prefer to be called in this series; Shifters) having a secret society in a national forest near Canada is actually quite plausible. Yes, yes, I know they don't really exist, but don't you just love those authors who make so much sense that you could envision it happening?
    I do.
There is swearing in this book, a bit more than I'd like but no one says the F word (if that word is in a book I usually don't continue reading it)
still though, I'd say 13 years old and up. I don't want any parents mad at me for recommending it to too young a girl. :) lol
I thought the change in narration would really bother me, but it actually doesn't. Each girl's voice is so clear and original that it's next to impossible to get them confused!
Each guy and girl's romance is unique and the pack means so much more to me now that I understand all of their backgrounds. I actually read the 4th book first and absolutely fell in love with it. That's what me me decide to read the others. Each book COULD stand on it's own. For insentience I still understood what was happening and such in Shadow of the Moon (book 4) but after reading the others I think I'll love it even more!
I'm falling in love with each and every guy member of the pack and can totally get the girl's as well. Although Hayden and Daniel are still my favorite, perhaps because I read their story first.
I HIGHLY recommend this series, to any teenage girl who loves werewolves, hot guys, amazing romance, edge of your seat suspense, or just a generally awesome book.
So go ahead and read it, I'm pretty sure you won't regret it. ;)
    Yours Randomly,
    DayDreamingBookGirl ;)

    Awesome!

This second book in the Dark Guardian's series is amazing.
It starts out where Lindsey has this dream about Conner and her, but as the dream goes on she realizes that it's not Conner in the dream- it's Rafe! Now she can't stop thinking about Rafe, and it's not making it any easier because he keeps watching her too!
Lindsey doesn't know what to do because she thought that everyone was suppose to have just one mate. Kayla and Lucas are like the perfect couple and are totally in love. Brittany is always working out and seems to be angry at the world.
Lindsey doesn't know what to do and as time goes on she finds her self more drawn to Rafe.
    Can she have two mates?
Will she be able to choose who she loves more- Connor or Rafe?

    Great series!

This series certainly has interesting characters and a plot that keeps you engaged! After reading one book, you anxiously await the sequel. Each book (at least so far) is told by a different character. That helps give you insight into the different characters in the story. You really care about what happens to them and about half-way through the book, it becomes one you can't put down and just pull an all-nighter until you finish it!

    Great series!

Ever since I finished Moonlight I have been waiting for this book to come out. Once it hit the stores I knew I had to buy it before heading to work. Within less than 48hrs I had finished this book and may I just say "wow." This is another of many books to take my breath away.

In her last book, it seemed to rush the ending and leave off at a bad timing but thankfully she picks the story back up with another main character. Even though I loved Lucas and Kayla, I definitely don't mind Lindsey, Rafe and Conner.

This is a definite must read!!!!
