    lasting value

    These books have such lasting value. Educators are finally returning to a method of teaching that works! It isn't the only method that works but it is a pity that these books have been out of print for a long time. I'm glad they are back. Look! Look! Look! Kids learn many words by sight and by repetition in interesting stories. These books have many of the Dolch sight words which don't follow decoding rules. These words have to be learned by sight.

    My dyslexic reluctant reader LOVES Dick and Jane!!

    FINALLY my 8+ year old who is struggling with reading is enjoying reading, with, you-guessed-it, Dick and Jane!! The other readers: Star Wars, Pokemon, Cars, Biscuit, Clifford, the list goes on...the other readers just weren't cutting it for him, even though he likes those topics. Who would've guessed he wants these "retro" stories over all the new ones?? I remember Dick/Jane from when I was a wee lass in the 1970s, and am so thrilled they are back in print. The innocence, and joy of just being a kid come through in the simple story lines--no violence, adult themes, or "plugged in" anything--just the joy of being alive. Love them!
