Overview

Dark forces lure Victoria, an ordinary woman, back in time where she is no longer herself, but Mistress Dorian, a member of upper class Victorian society known for her famed beauty. Struggling to find her way home, she assumes the identity of Dorian who is bored and restless with rigid aristocratic life and tired of being the token beautiful wife of a well known doctor. The moral choices she makes from her attraction to her footman to the horrors of the smallpox epidemic test her Christian faith.

Unprepared for what fate has planned for her, Dorian loses all that she holds dear but in the process discovers her true faith as Victoria is finally able to go home.

I agree with the other reviewer that the bookends did not quit fit the story, but the actual story was exceptional. The themes of love, loss, and redemtion were well done and made for a freat read.

Very strange start and finish, seemed like maybe it could do without them both. But the middle, Dorian's life, that part I did enjoy immensly.
