Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
Funny Bunny: Hilariously Hare-Brained Easter Riddles by Lisa Eisenberg; illus. by Dave Klug, asks questions such as "What kind of eggs are the hardest to dye?" and offers the answers ("Scrambled eggs!") beneath liftable flaps in the center of each spread.
Children's Literature
"Why should you never tell a joke to an egg?" Because "it might crack up!" This riddle and 10 others are found in this "Riddle in the Middle" book for young children. Some will appeal to the intended audience and some will fall flat. Each page spread has a half page inset between the two pages. A riddle is on the left-hand page. When children turn the inset, a new picture and answer to the riddle is provided. The illustrations are uneven; their style is rather slap dash, and they do not clarify the riddles as well as they should. However, there is an adorable illustration on the very last page, where readers see all the characters from the book (children and animals) with bunny ears on their heads. All in all, the book looks as if it were hastily thrown together. Although the intended age group is 3 to 8, the riddles will probably appeal more to children in grade school. 2003, HarperFestival/HarperCollins, Pettenati
