Overview

Formally a weekly column, Funny Side Up was so well received it was put into anthology form, and is still running by demand in reprints. The book, a great morning read with coffee, can be read at coffee break or hectic periods during stressful days. There is a strong chance you will read it through 'til the end in one sitting, because you cannot get enough of this belly laugh, page-turner.

The stories, as quoted by author and humorist Richard Armour, are "timely, but not timeless, and close to universal experiences, out-doing the many tired elements around today." You will insist Al had been lurking around your house for his material. Funny Side Up is a book you can leave on your coffee table and not be ashamed to have your kids or visitors read.

Funny Side Up' has lived in the Leech household since my wife's dad (Wiley) became ill and eventually died of the same disease Al Squitieri survived (Polymyositis). Al tells all in his book 'Broken Glass and All.' My wife's mom now lives in a small cottage adjacent to our home, and whenever any of us get sad thinking about Wiley, we can read a chapter or two of 'Funny Side Up' and the tears of sadness are transformed into to tears of laughter. Thanks Al for helping us cope. Mike Leech, Reader

I finished reading and laughing thru this book, 'Funny Side Up.' I'll be recommending it to others. Al did an excellent job of entertaining with his humorous stories. And as I recall, he did an excellent job of preaching too. Now I'm going to read his other book, 'Broken Glass And All.' I expect it to be more informative than humorous, though, I can't picture Al not including some humor in all his writing. Bob Tubaugh, Palm Harbor, Florida.
