Kris Longknife: Furious Takes A New Turn In the interests of full disclosure, I received a free copy of the book to review. I have no other connection to the author or publisher, nor any financial interest in either. Some reviewers have already shared far more of the plot than I would have, so I'll only touch on how this installment of the series read for me and what I liked or disliked. First, I've been a fan of this series for years and it lived up to my expectations, even though it took some turns away from where the series has gone before. It had all the excitement and even more character growth than I expected. This is all to the good. I'm ready for the next book already because I really want to know where things go from here. This book, as mentioned in other reviews, deals a lot more with her family than with space combat. I like that. They've been needing to be dealt with for a while. Her father, her grandfather, and to some degree her uncle, have been treating her like crap for a while. In this book, it begins to come to a head. I say begins to because this reckoning isn't over. Or at least it shouldn't be. They need to get some payback for what they've done to her or she'd just a pushover. And we all know Kris isn't a pushover. I'm taking the positive stance on my outlook here because I hope that they get some of what they've been dealing to her in a future book, or Kris won't be able to generate the same level of respect in her readers as she has been. One of the negatives of this book is how the ending came together so neatly. It had the feel up just being wrapped up like a gift. Everything just rushed into place right at the end of the book and that left me disappointed. Hence the drop from a five star to a four star. The bottom line is that I love this series and I can't wait for the next book. Furious has signaled a change to the future of the series and it just remains to be seen if the next few books deliver. I hope so, but I believe in Kris and Mike Shepherd. Buy this book.

This series starts off slow then builds in tempo. Then it hangs you in midair and starts you to wondering whats coming next. I cant wait till book number 11 comes out.

I enjoyed this book because it allowed me to stay in touch with the characters. I got the feeling Mr. Shepherd was marking time for the next one, which hopefully will have a bit more action. But the stage is indeed set, and if one enjoys the main players in this series, which I do, then I recommend reading it.
