Overview

Yet another Cold War relic has returned to roost with its Russian masters, one that could ultimately send the world reeling back to the dark days that preceded the Cuban Missile crisis. In 1975, the Soviet Union strategically buried thirty-two portable nuclear weapons, or "suitcase nukes" in NATO slang, disbursing them in and around potential military and civilian targets in the United States. A disgruntled ex-KGB agent with intimate knowledge of the weapons existence discloses two of the locations to a group of religious extremists whose state seeks independence from Russia. With the weapons information in hand, the extremists duel with the FBI and local policing authorities as they battle their way to the weapons locations. The ensuing chaos allows an unlikely collaborative effort to unfold between the heads of British MI-6 and the Russian GRU, both hoping to procure one of the nuclear weapons for their own twisted agenda.

Took a chance and was surprised. This book has a terrorist in the US who has procurred several nuclear weapons that were burried during the Cold War. Fast pace. Easy read. Would recommend to anyone.

I'm giving this book four stars, but I'd mark it as a high four stars (as a side note, I wish books ratings systems had ten stars, not five, there isn't nearly enough space for variation with five). The reason behind the four star rating - character development. Needed a little more in this area. But other than that, the plot simply didn't let up, and it was interesting. I was pretty sure I had figured out a couple of the twists early on, and I was right, but that didn't matter. There were so many little things going on that added up to an excellent read. The writing was good but not spectacular. However, I would say it is well in line with 90% of the bestselling thrillers I've read in the past five years.

A terrorist hooks up with an ex-KGB agent who has knowledge of suitcase nukes hidden in the US back in the 70's. Terrorist evades the FBI and the "new" KGB, now known as the FSB. Had some really good plot twists and turns. It was one of those books I just had to read a second time. Love finding these type of books.

A real page turner, I couldn't put it down. I have lent my copy to friends who also enjoyed Mr. Smith's ability to keep you on the edge of you seat. I look forward to more works by this author.

This book was such a refreshing change to others I have read recently. I enjoyed it's unpredictability and references to local east coast destinations I know so well. A good book to read while on vacation especially on the New Jersey shoreline.

Read the electronic format (E-book) for Fury From Within, found it to be an excellent Thriller. This boy can really spin a yarn with the best of them.
