"Communication breakdown" is an understatement when it comes to new species. Created in a lab using animal DNA, New Species were "treated as though they were guinea pigs, tools, and nothing more" in the name of science. It is hard to trust or love when you have only known pain and hate. Ellie Brower only knew the test subject as 416, but she was drawn to him. She agrees to go undercover as a spy to gather evidence of Mercile Industries illegal drug research, in hopes of freeing all the test subjects, but especially 416. A strong character, she is determined to do anything to save the New Species, even die. She is one person you can't help but admire and applaud for throughout the story. 416, also known as Fury, can never forget Ellie but he feels betrayed and wants revenge when he comes face to face with her at the New Species Homeland compound, even though there is something inside him that does not want to see her hurt. Communication breakdown can cause a lot of problems and misunderstanding. Watching the plot play out, I found I wanted to scream a few times because of others sticking their noses into the middle of Fury and Ellie's business. However, I must say it made for an exciting and a sweet love story even if I felt the need to pull my hair out because of all the interference. I saw a few editing errors -- misued words mostly -- but nothing that pulled me from the story. I loved the plot; it was unique and easy to imagine with today's technology in DNA testing, in which something like this could really happen. It was enthralling in that animalistic kind of way, with some hot sex scenes and a lot of heart melting bonding between two people. Most definitely a delicious testosterone filled book that is worth reading. Originally posted at Whipped Cream Reviews

I am hooked on JR Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood Series and I will say that this series is just as addictive as the Brotherhood. Dohner is an excellent storyteller and pulls you in right from the beginning. You will feel every emotion from anger to joy when you read these books. Enjoy!!

Great series. Very long, not short like some books. If you like Lora Leigh or Christine Feehan, you'll love her books. Give them a try, you won't regret it.

I love Laurann's Cyborg Seduction Series and Mating Heat Series and New Species is another wiiner for her. This series reminds me of Lora Leigh's Breed Series but it is different and a fantastic read. The sparks are flying between Ellie and Fury and there were plenty of plot twists and turns to keep the reader engrossed in the story. All I can say is I wish I had a Fury for myself. This is a definite must read and I can't wait till Slade is released August 19th!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I typically don't take the time to write a review, but I feel it my duty to do so in this case. I can understand the comparison between this series and the Breeds series by Lora Leigh, but where Breeds holds depth New Species might as well be wearing water wings. I'm a sensory reader. I want to be in the book with these characters, feel what they feel, become outraged with them, hurt with them. The writing style of New Species didn't do it for me, verry shallow writing. I almost felt insulted with how the last chapter would be coveyed back in dialog between the hero/heroine, like we don't have the capacity to retain the info. Many other ratings had been good, 4+ stars, so what am I missing? I don't know, didn't like the style of Fifty Shades either, once again for the same reason, insulted intelligence. I don't need anybody holding my hand while reading S&M. If I could comment without give'n it a star, said star would not be there.

I've read the first three books in this series and I just can't suffer through another one. The writing is below average, the character development is very weak and the story line is silly. Even the sex scenes, while they are plentiful, lack creativity. You'd be better served buying the Fifty Shades series or the Black Dagger Brotherhood, which are just better works of fiction, if you want erotic romance.

Isn't this just a re write of Lora Leigh's Breed series? The premise is EXACTLY the same!

Reviewed by Crystal Book provided by the publisher for review Review originally posted at Romancing the Book Fury is the first book in the best new series that I’ve had the pleasure of reading in a long time. Ellie is working undercover to save the new species that have been locked up all their lives. She doesn’t understand how anyone could do that to another human being. She really has the hots for 416 and wants to help save him. 416 is part human and has DNA of a dog. He has been locked up all his life and had experiments done to him that no one should ever have to live through. The only human that he trusts is Ellie. He trusts her until one day he starts getting rape by one of the scientists. She saves him by killing the scientist and putting the blame on 416. She does it to get the evidence so that everyone can be released. I really enjoyed Laurann’s writing style. I just started reading and just got so into the story. All her characters work together so well. I can just imagine myself as Ellie. This isn’t just a romance story. It has some wonderful story lines. You get some suspense, some laughter, some tears, and the sex is so hot. All the new species take care of each other and that’s what they need to survive. The love between Ellie and Fury (was 416 until he got free and chose a new name for himself) is so spectacular. To have someone wanting revenge on you because he thinks you betrayed his trust. They fall so deeply and passionately in love. I would love to have someone love me so much that they would do anything for me, even take a bullet for me. This book deals with some racism. They don’t believe that a human and a human with animal DNA should be together and they really shouldn’t be having sex. Has some issues with male rape. Has some really evil people that would do anything to harm people that would stand in their way. The sex scenes are so hot!!! Has some scenes that has Ellie being tied up. Made me wish that I could be the one being tied up. I love that this book deals with a couple that has to go through a lot of things that normal people in real life have to go through. This is what makes the story so believable. It doesn’t matter what fate has in store for Fury and Ellie, they make it through together. I couldn’t put this book down and I can’t wait to find out what happens in the next book. There are still secrets that need to be uncovered and it keeps me in suspense. I recommend this book to anyone who loves a book with a wonderful love story, some great friends who will laugh at each other and stand by them no matter what, and who doesn’t care that everyone has their own battles to deal with. Enjoy!!

How many different books does this women have!!? I am on book 10 (Moon) of the NS series and i just want to say that this author is geat. There has been some ups and downs throught the series but they have all been consistently good. Some of my favs are : Fury, Slade, Valient, and Justice. Then it slowed down a little but i still liked the books. It picked back up at Tigers book (I LOVED Tiger in all the other books) and i just finished Shadow. I reccomend this series to everyone.

What a fantastic start to a great series! This combines all the best things we love about men with all the things that make them heroes! I want all the New Species to be my book boyfriends! Great history and storylines as well as creative plots and back stories. You can't help but feel a wide range of emotions. The series is a great read for someone who enjoys a story for a story.

This was a random choice for me, I just ran across it and decided to give it a try because Fury seemed like the 'Tortured Bad Boy' type that I enjoy. Which I did enjoy him and Ellie, I think that the book was overall pretty good, not excellent, but good. He is a bit too obsessed with her for my liking, but I got over it. Also, just want to make a point here...why does Ellie have to have SO many dramatic situations? I mean...it's kind of lame how many times she was in trouble! Those are my thoughts on this book though and I will probably read the others in the series just so I can have another series of books under my belt!
