A Beloved Fantasy From One Of Japan's Top Creators
Prolific shôjo ("girls") comics artist Yuu Watase has created a wonderfully exciting, funny, and heartfelt tale of a normal junior-high-school girl who is transported into a fictional version of ancient China. She encounters base villains and dashing heroes, and still manages to worry about her grades and where her next banquet is coming from.

Meet the Author

A manga artist for nearly 20 years, Watase's debut came in 1989 at the age of 18 when her short story PAJAMA DE OJAMA (An Intrusion in Pajamas) appeared in the monthly Shôjo Comic manga anthology. Since then she has written and drawn some 50 volumes worth of different short stories and long-running manga series, including the fantastically popular FUSHIGI YÛGI, also available in English from VIZ. Her works have provided the basis for two television series, an OVA series, anime soundtrack CDs, and a string of novels.

    I Also Recommend:

    Great start to the series

I always wanted to read Fushigi Yugi but was daunted by the number of volumes, so when I saw this Viz-big edition I knew I had to get it. The book is nice and the paper is very thick and does not crinkle. Like the other reviewer said the artwork in the back of this book is very nice. So if you haven't collected this book yet, read it!!
