Meet the Author

A manga artist for over ten years, Yuu Watase's debut came in 1989 at the age of 18 when her short story Pajama de Ojama (An Intrusion in Pajamas) appeared in the monthly Shã´jo Comic manga anthology. Since then she has written and drawn some 50 volumes worth of different short stories and long-running manga series, including the fantastically popular Fushigi Yûgi, also available in English from VIZ. Her works have provided the basis for two television series, an OVA series, anime soundtrack CDs, and a string of novels.

    Cool

    Fushigi Yugi is a totally awesome series! The art is excellent, and the story is better! If You like manga and anime, you'll love Fushigi Yugi!

    Suspenseful

    i couldn't put it down till i finished it. and when i did, i read it over two more times! it's a great book, i love it.

    Yu Watase is a manga master!

    Fushigi Yugi was the first manga title I read, and I've been hooked ever since. The series is fantastically engaging, with a great storyline and unforgettable characters. I can't wait to finish the series, and I'm quite beside myself waiting for Genbu Kaiden. (And the anime is quite good, by the way.) =D All of Watase's works are BANGIN'!

    I LOVE ANIME!!

    I love Fushigi yugi! When I read one book, I kept reading until I read each single one of them! Every night I read all the Fushigi yugi books! It's impossible for me to put it down! Man, the guy characters are so darn cute like Tamahome, Hotohori, Tasuki, Nakago, Amiboshi and Suboshi!! I also like Nuriko even though he's a cross dresser! I am Yu Watase's NUMBER 1 FAN!!

    Yuu Watase is my hero!

    I've been reading Fushigi Yuugi for 3 years. It is still my favorite manga. I just got 13 and found the ending to part one. I cried.... It is an amazing love story, with some tragedy and lots of humor. Great story!

    I LIKE IT!

    Its soooo coool,except I dont like those love scenes-blehh!!-but other then that,it is awesome!!!!Hmmm...although maybe a little color added..It would look nice like that.

    FUSHIGI YUGI IS THE BEST

    This is one of the best books i have ever had the pleasure of reading. The plot is increadible, has wonderful artwork and is nearly impossible to set down.

    One of the best books I've ever read!

    This is one of the greatest mangas I've ever read! I have the whole series and am looking forward for the next books to come out so I can complete my series. I read the books over and over again, always laughing at the funny parts even though I've read them so many times. I reccomend this book to anyone who likes and enjoys Anime. It's full of romance and humor with great characters anyone could love. Read and enjoy!

    A GREAT READ

    I only read up to the middle because my father came to the bookstore to bring me home and i didn't have any money to buy it. but i can honestly say that this is one book that i intend on spending serious amounts of money on. it is very funny and if you like fantasy manga then look no farther.

    Truly Excellent!

    This is a really great story! It has everything, action, adventure, and romance! It even has mystery and magic! The story is fantastic! You have got to read it! The characters are lovable and you can relate to them! This book has great suspense! It'll leave you begging for more and keep you at the edge of your seat dying to read what happens next!

    TOO GOOD FOR WORDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    it was soooooooooooooooo good! this takes place in ancient china and a girl's life and how it changes due to an old book! there in ancient china she finds her destiny, a destiny layed out for her against her will. that is until she accepts it!

    Awesome

    This is a totally great series.my friends and i love fushigi yugi.tamahome is so HOT!!!miaka is a food maniac.and all this love and confusions is really great!!i also watch the episodes on T.v.this is a best buy!!

    Read this or you're really missing something.

    One of the best mangas I've ever read. The characters really come alive, the plot is great, the art is awesome. Watase Yuu is simply amazing!

    Best Anime Ever

    I didn't see the anime before in the life but I have heard about Fushigi Yugi from a variety of my friends. Near Rockefeller center, there is a Japanese book store and I went there to find the manga. I only saw the new edition though (which is cheaper *phew*). It is the best manga I have ever read. Miaka can be ditzy but we all love her. Tamahone, on the other hand, is probably going to get on my nerves in the later volumes because of his money loving personality. I already know the entire story but I'm waiting for 'Oracle' to come out in the new edition. This is a must read. Yu Watase is an excellent artist and she manages to show the emotions just through one picture. Read it and love it!

    Read This Manga!

    I really enjoyed Fushigi Yugi, Vol.1:Priestess. I'm taking Japanese, actually, and I'm getting to like everything about Japan. This truly is a great manga, and I recommend it to ANYONE! Barnes and Noble, I salute you for having such great manga in stock.
