This text presents papers prepared for the 7th international congress of the International Association for Fuzzy-Set Management (SIGEF) held in Chania, Greece. Thirty-nine contributors discuss a wide variety of recent advances in methodological approaches for dealing with the complexity of modern corporate management problems. The techniques originate mainly from fuzzy sets theory, but also explore the integration of fuzzy sets with other decision support and modeling disciplines, such as neural networks, genetic algorithms, machine learning, optimization, data analysis, multivariate statistics and econometrics. Seventeen chapters are organized into sections focusing on real-world application of these methods in the areas of decision making, management and marketing; stock markets and portfolio management; and corporate finance and banking management. No subject index. Annotation c. Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
