Overview

Favorite characters return in this stunning seventh and final book in Angie Sage's New York Times bestselling magykal series: ExtraOrdinary Wizard Marcia Overstrand, Alchemist Marcellus Pye, and of course Septimus Heap, Jenna, Beetle, Simon, Lucy, and the rest of the Heap gang.

Jenna will soon be Queen and Beetle is now Chief Hermetic Scribe. Septimus, however, must rid the Castle of the Darke Domaine by destroying the Two-Faced Ring. His skills in both Magyk and Physik will be tested, as will his loyalties.

Filled with Angie Sage's characteristic humor and heart, Fyre is a grand finale that is fantasy adventure at its best.

Editorial Reviews

ALA Booklist
“Sage is a master of her created world, paying devoted attention to the smallest detail; the world and the characters in it are as vivid and engaging in this final installment as they have been throughout the Septimus Heap series.”
Children's Literature - Enid Portnoy
Book seven in the “Septimus Heap” series continues the fantasy, adventure, and magic of previous volumes. Septimus, Jenna, and Beetle are fourteen-years-old and have the responsibility to try and discover the origins of Magyk and powers that exist in wizardry and the Right. Their goal is to destroy the two faced Ring and keep the Fyre kindled. Otherwise, the severe cold may hurt the royal family and those they care about. Overall, Sage’s creative magic helps young readers envision such awesome sights as ice tunnels, castles, snow sculptures, dragon boats, and underground entrances to the world of wizards and delicious-named characters of the author’s creation. Can wizards be brought back to life along with restoration? Can Septimus help clean the sand and water logged hundred years old places? The Big Freeze has locked everything and everyone in its grip. It is up to Septimus Heap, the Apprentice, to labor and encourage others to rebuild and fight for survival for his beloved land. Zug’s beautifully delicate pen-and-ink drawings open each chapter and help to press the faces of people into the readers’ mind. There are short descriptions to help familiarize readers about major characters and their relationships. Readers will appreciate another imaginative and fun adventure in this installment. Reviewer: Enid Portnoy; Ages 8 to 14.

This ending to a series that will take its place with Harry Potter, Narnia, and Oz will not disappoint. Our young hero, Septimus, is still torn between Magyk with Marcia Overstrand or Alchemie with Marcellus Pye. He must go to work with Marcellus for a month in order to start the Fyre that will destroy forever the Two-Faced Ring. Meanwhile, Jenna is about to meet the ghost of Queen Cerys, her mother, for the first time, in order to become Queen herself. But all is not yet well. The wicked wizards of the Ring have escaped and are Consuming the Heap uncles in order to get revenge on the royal family. Bringing back every character from Septimus to Petroc Trelawney, Angie Sage masterfully ties up loose ends and brings our hero to a conclusion about himself. This is a book that has true Magyk. And watch out for Magyk: the movie, and the new Alice Todhunter Moon series!

I have been reading this series 3 times each year since i was in 6th grade, and now i am in 9th, sooo... that means that i have read this series about 12 times! That means that it is totally worthy of anyone who loves magic and loves Septimus! The only problem was with the ending of the last book. It was ended on a total cliffhanger and therefore has an unsatisfactory ending. ANGIE SAGE, if you read these reviews, please consider writing a follow-up book about Princess Jenna, Septimus, Marcia, Beetle and the other characters. I am representing myself and many of my friends when i say that we all want to know what happens to the characters. My friends and i are total die hard Septimus Heap fans. On a more personal note, I would like to know if Jenna ever gets married and has a daughter. And what about Septimus? Does he ever get married and have a child? Please either reply with your dissmissal of my idea or write a follow-up book!!!! PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE!!!!!!! I await your answer with bated breath.

These are the kind of books you look forward to reading. You actually cant wait to pick them back up! Sages smooth writing and incredibly imaginative world is a rival for Harry Potter, but a must read for HP fans. I HIGHLY recommend this series.

Angie Sage is a truly unique writer. There are very few modern authors who are better at creating a world than she is. The only two I can think of are J.K. Rowling and Nnedi Okarofor. I love Septimus Heap and I can wait until the new series comes out so I can return to this wonderful world she has created.
