Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
One would expect to find this book in gift shops in Arizona's many tourist attractions. It is cleverly done, using the alphabet to explain items about Arizona. Sidebars go into more detail about each item. It would be a timely book to read before traveling to the state or as a study about Arizona for a school project. The illustrations also depict many of the animals one might see in the southwest desert. At the end of the story, readers have the opportunity to take a quiz to see how much they remember from reading the book. A bibliography gives suggestions for other books to learn more about the state. The author is a former park naturalist and a resident of Arizona. 2002, Sleeping Bear Press,
