Miss Gabriella Gordon only came to London at her mother's and sister's insistence, for she'd much rather assist in running her father's veterinary practice than attempt to fit into fashionable society. No sooner has she arrived in London than the exalted (and exceedingly handsome) Duke of Ravenham comes to call. The reason is less than flattering, however: due to a lost wager, the Duke is forced to bring Gabriella into fashion, a "favor" she would certainly refuse if her family would let her. But the more time she spends in the dashing Duke's company, the more conflicted she feels— particularly when she discovers they have more in common than she ever dared dream.

Brenda Hiatt is the author of six traditional Regency romances, one time travel romance and eight historical romances, most set in Regency England. She continues to write in these and other genres, to include contemporary women's fiction and young adult romance. In addition to writing, Brenda is passionate about embracing life to the fullest, to include scuba diving (she has over 60 dives to her credit), Taekwondo (where she achieved her black belt in 2010), hiking, traveling, and pursuing new experiences and skills. She is an active member of Romance Writers of America, the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators, and Novelists, Inc, an international organization of multipublished novelists, where she served as President in 2006.     If you love Georgette Heyer & the Brontes, buy this book!

    I cannot get enough of Brenda Hiatt's delicious Regency romances. True classics in every sense of the word.

    This book was a fantastic read! Once I started I couldn't seem to put it down and I was annoyed when my breaks at work ended and I had to stop reading. My onlycomplaint is that it took both characters WAY too long to realize their first views of the other weren't true, even after it was said right to their face. Gabriella said that he wasnt just a pretty face a bunch of times before he decided to actuallybelieve her. Besides that I found this book incredibly enjoyable ans will look for more by this author.

    Wonderful

    A great story line that keeps the reader involved and waiting to see how the srory unfolds. Lovely story , great characters and interplay between the characters. A must read
