The Game Maker's Apprentice is a great book that teaches even the very beginners of Mark Overmars' Game Maker game creation program how to make good computer games with ease. I'm pretty good at Game Maker myself, but I learned several things I never knew before! Reading this book, you will be stepped through the creation of nine fun-filled computer games. You won't have to do anything except follow the instructions - there are no images or sounds you need to make at all! All of the stuff you will need is on the included CD. Have fun with this book! Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.

Come on, you had that secret dream too... You always wanted to make your own game but knew nothing about programing languages. This title is a winner hands down for any novice, as well as others. What I did with Game Maker in a month would have taken far longer the old way! Game Maker in itself is very easy to grasp and it is mostly drag and drop, point and click rather than type everything. But with this book along with it, everything will be quite clear and easy to understand. Again, with any game, it depends on how much 'effort' you put into it, but the book explains everything so well and designing games becomes so effortless (well, as easy as it gets!) anyone will be making thier own games in no time. Tutorials take you step by step though making different types of games that cover many categorys. Shooting, puzzle/maze, flying (semi-Asteroids control), Breakout/Arkanoid type, you name it. So many features covered in the book you will be overflowing with ideas for games by the time you are done! Honestly, if you know programing languages already, you will be pounding out your games in record time. For the novice, their dreams will come true seeing thier vison come to reality in no time at all. Full color book and a CD with everything you will need. Was this review helpful?
