Good, Quick Read. Not at all what I expected.

The book was not at all what I expected. I have spent the past year reading a few of the new dystopia book series such as Hunger Games, The Maze Runner, and Matched. I expected The Game to be much like those series, especially where it involved a game like the others. However, it was a completely different feel and an original idea. I was pleasantly surprised with the overall story. Its very light reading and not to serious. Its a quick and easy read and the book felt like a complete circle with a satisfactory ending. I can see how there may be a future sequel but the book in itself is complete.

Short, little character dev., and a twist!

Those expecting a violent Hunger Games type story should look elsewhere - there's not really any violence in this short novel. There's really too many characters to really get invested in all of them, and there isn't much in terms of character development. But, the story is great, with drawn out suspense, and the big reveal was not what I expected, which was nice. The book kind of feels more like what you would write if you and your friends were in this situation, with little going horribly wrong and a happy ending being inevitable. It is nice, though, to see a dystopian novel end on a hopeful note.

read the hunger games a while ago and loved them, loved the idea

read the hunger games a while ago and loved them, loved the idea that many of the reviews here offered hints that this was different but just as much fun... OMG ! ! ! LOVED THIS BOOK... did not expect the ending, kept my interest & the suspense was palpable until the very end. Cannot recommend this book higher esp if you have a week end that you could stay to finish it. Not a very long book but so well written.

    slim but interesting

It is a very slim novel and a quick read. The prose is a little old-fashioned and the characters are somewhat one-dimensional but the story itself is quite original and fun to read.

The Game is a completely original and different from many other future set book. The characters and storyline is engaging. You feel as though you've entered a new world. The game itself comes across as mysterious yet appealing you want to know what lays beyond what you see. The book is truly a great read and rare to have captured its intended audience so well. It truly leaves you wanting more.
