If you follow the US Soccer philosophy of dividing a practice into thirds (technical training, small-sided games, scrimmage), this book is a great source of ideas for coaching the middle third of the practice. It contains 50-60 training excercises and small-sided games, each designed to emphasize a different aspect of game play. It is divided into themes, such as possession, shooting, transition, and defending. It is ideally suited for a youth or adult team that plays 11v11, or the more advanced 8v8 youth team. (The lessons would be lost on the younger kids.) Each exercise contains the rules of the game with illustrations. But it also includes coaching points, variations to make it harder or easier, and in some cases, scenarios that you can look for such as certain movements off the ball.
