Overview

Is the future really going to be any different than the present when it comes to true love? Probably not! No matter what planet you’re from!

When a handsome, bi-colored, albeit flawed, sixteen-year-old Terpaqi male meets a beautiful, precocious, African-American, fourteen-year-old Earth girl, a multi-world friendship develops and love will never look the same again.

In 2160, two teenagers meet on a school bus headed to a Space & Science Camp on Earth by mere chance. Four years later they reconnect at the Allied Space Academy and University and begin to build more than a friendship; they will assist in saving their people, even as the two worlds threaten to tear them apart. Quall Jildar, a bright yet rather formal and “business-like” alien teen from planet Terpaq, and Amanda D. Jade (AJ), an intuitive, precocious, tough-as-nails girl, embark on a multi-world wind journey of friendship and love.

What each world doesn’t know yet is that through their forbidden relationship, they will discover the key to the greatest mystery of the universe: the origin of life! And it will all begin with another truth, proclaiming out loud that companionship knows no species, no racial or interstellar differences. Quall and AJ will soon realize that destiny has chosen them to work together, for which they may have to pay a very high price.

Games We Play is a gripping, eye-opening read. In it, author Toni Westbrooks tackles such crucial issues as faith, friendship, prejudice, and hate - all cleverly cloaked within the folds of a Sci-Fi romance tale. Through the eyes and endeavors of her brave protagonists, Westbrooks invokes the reader to take a more discerning view of the typical folkways and mores of greater society, as well as the individual roles that we play in it...

Games We Play was a FANTASTIC read. Interesting lead characters and storyline. This story is told in the 22nd century where humans and aliens co-exist. Amanda, African American human, and Quall, an alien, fall in love when they first meet at a summer space camp. When their parents become aware of their relationship, they are separated. Amanda and Quall father's creates a Law that forbids humans and aliens to marry or have children. Regardless of the law and Amanda and Quall cultures, they fight to be together. This is really a sweet, sweet love story. If you are looking for a lot of sex this is not the book for you. If you are looking for a gripping story and romance this is it. I highly recommend this read.

If you are looking for a story that will draw you in and make you want more this is the book to read. The characters are unique at the same time you can relate to them. The author Toni Westrbooks writing style is one that can keep your attention and make you want more. You can relate this story line to the past and even current issues that are happening in our society. Even though this book is Sci-fi it is written in a way that the reader forgers the sci-fi part and falls in love with EVERY character in the book. Can't wait for the next book in the series.

What an absolutely fabulous book!!! This book spoke to the hopeless romantic in me, the love story is so powerful. Both of the main characters were so driven to do whatever they thought necessary to be together; it was wonderful... I loved the supporting characters; Ms Westbrooks did a phenomenal job of building them into the story; they didn't just sit on the sidelines; but were totally engaged in the story; each brining something to the story that make it all the more better. I love that I laughed, hard, cheered and even welled up reading this book... I loved this book so much I had to turn around and read it again right away, in fear that I may have missed something... I can't wait for the next one.

Quall is sharp, bright, and all business...AJ is precocious, intuitive, and tough-as-nails...when the two teens - who just happen to hail from two different worlds - meet by chance in the middle of the 22nd Century, neither of them has the faintest idea that their union will not only change them in ways they can hardly imagine - but it will also uncover the key to the greatest mystery of the universe...the only question: can they summon the courage to answer the call of destiny...? Games We Play is a gripping, eye-opening read. In it, author Toni Westbrooks tackles such crucial issues as faith, friendship, prejudice, and hate - all cleverly cloaked within the folds of a Sci-Fi romance tale. Through the eyes and endeavors of her brave protagonists, Westbrooks invokes the reader to take a more discerning view of the typical folkways and mores of greater society, as well as the individual roles that we play in it. In so doing, she does a commendable job of showing that - no matter our age, race, gender, or background - each of us holds the key to shaping our collective future, and we owe it to one another to make healthy, informed decisions, the lasting effects of which will be felt for generations to come. Equally enlightening and entertaining, Games We Play is a must read for fans of quality, well-crafted tales - regardless of genre. The promising debut of what's sure to be a highly compelling trilogy. Chelsea Perry Apex Reviews
