Overview

Before you go thinking this is some kind of purposeful collection put together with care, check out the spines of the CDs on the open end of this box set. Gangsta Party is nothing more than the Thump label's so-so Saturday Night Ballin' compilation thrown in a box with T.W.D.Y.'s Derty Werk and DJ U-Neek's Ghetto Street Pharmacist. U-Neek's solid album is the reason to obtain this set, although Derty Werk has its moments. The high-profile names on the cover -- Too Short, Ant Banks, Kokane, Bizzy Bone -- all appear as guest artists on the T.W.D.Y.. and U-Neek albums, so don't expect more than a couples minutes of superstar rapping from them. Still, the price is right, and if you consider this as a way to obtain U-Neek's album, get some freebies, and help Thump clean out their warehouse, the set is worth considering. ~ David Jeffries
